Unlike the well-to-do students at various grad schools, my alma mater seemed rather ... homespun, at best. Perhaps it was to help foster the bootstrap startup mentality, right from the start.

I had serious eye tracker envy.

Fast forward, and here are the major players in the field today:

  • SMI - just acquired by Apple...I expect it to be integrated into tablets, computers, mobile, and TV controls, soon.

  • IScan

  • EyeLink

  • Tobii

These are the four that have been mentioned at the conference; I'm sure there are more. Also interesting to note, one of the attendees at the Gordon Research Conference has built his own driving simulator, based on various pieces of Open Source Software. This is wonderful news, and I expect his price point to be much lower than the options we have today. Stay tuned for continuing developments!
